Ouderkerk aan de Amstel is a rustic and historic village, under the smoke of Amsterdam. The village center consists of a rich cultural asset with, among other things, historic churches and the Jewish cemetery. In addition, there are cozy restaurants where you can enjoy a delicious meal and shops for your daily shopping. Ouderkerk is located in a natural area with beautiful recreational opportunities such as water entertainment at the Ouderkerkerplas, cycling through the polder of the Ronde Hoep or walking along the Amstel.

Close to the river Bullewijk, on the Rondehoep Oost lies Theresiastaete. The complex consists of the former nursing home Theresia that will be completely renovated in 2021 into a residential complex and the already existing homes on the Gezellenplein.

Theresiastaete has 70 apartments of which 60 apartments with a social rent and 10 apartments with a liberalized rent. There is a nicely decorated meeting room in the complex that is used by the residents for activities and meetings. In addition, there is a spacious courtyard and sufficient parking space on site.

At the front of the complex, at the bottom of the dike, is Physiotherapy Ouder-Amstel with its own practice and treatment room. In addition, the building houses Hospice Zuider-Amstel. The hospice has its own entrance in the Theresiastraat.
